Monday, Monday
Today was one of those quieter days permitting reading, conversation, and meditation, the kind of things that enrich the soul. Some Bible reading was followed by reading about the physics of rainbows. It was all highly interesting but I will resist the impulse to go into details. Oh yes, and Carol sewed a button onto one of my shirts for which I am very grateful. I told you it was a quieter day.
On our way to the pool this morning we passed an iguana making his way up a palm tree with remarkable ease. I don't think it was Jorge, but he may well be a relative.
In other news, we brought along a bag that folds into a pretty small wad that we carry with us in case of need. It has frequently served as an object of curiosity about our family and especially our grandchildren. At Carol's suggestion I provide a photograph below ...
The bag's imprinted photo was taken a few years ago when the family treated us to a 50th Anniversary cruise. Here in Ixtapa it has provided many an opportunity to talk about the younger members of the Sheppard tribe ... which of course we are always more than happy to do.
Daily, when twilight descends, large flocks of birds swarm past our balcony, sometimes close to it and other times further away. One flock follows another at about ten-second intervals. I missed a chance to video a close encounter but to give you the general idea I submit the following video ...
Early tomorrow morning, before sunrise, is supposed to offer us an opportunity to witness a lunar eclipse. We hope to get a chance to see it. Subsequently we will leave for Zihua and spend a morning visiting English-speaking Mexicans in the public ministry. Mexicans being generally reverent and hospitable, it should be as pleasant an experience as it has been in the past. Tune in tomorrow and I'll have the report, unless I get back too tired and postpone it till Wednesday. Some territory here is mountainous.

He walks up a vertical surface as effortlessly as we
walk along a horizontal one, maybe more so. If you
would like to have him for a pet just email me your
request and I'll deliver him mid-March.
(It's a joke! It's a joke!)
