Sunday and Monday

Sunday was meeting day of course and we enjoyed the lesson on the resurrection and how the scriptures have been referring to it in one way or another for so many centuries as being central to God's purpose. The "gates of hades" will not stand in the way of that. The public talk was a detailed examination of scripture to show that, contrary to Christendom's teaching, Christ is not God himself but the son of God. The speaker, a friend of mine, is quite intellectual and he drilled pretty deep into the details. This is a brother who, if you name any Bible translation, will say, "Oh yes, published in ..." and give you the year.

When we first arrived we spotted a couple of brothers giving the building a fresh coat of paint. To my surprise they also covered the lettering and the JW.org box. They must have a skillful sign painter to re-do the lettering. Maybe we'll find out tomorrow when we go there for the service arrangement.

Sunday evening, when I descended to the beach to see the sunset, I was disappointed by a horizon dominated by gray clouds obscuring the sun. But there was an open slit near the horizon and eventually the sun entered it giving us just a minute of spectacle before disappearing below the horizon.

This is a treat that never gets old.

This evening was Edwin's night out with the ladies. The first time it was Edwin, Carol, and Elizabeth. Next time it was Edwin, Carol, Elizabeth, and Pat. Tonight it was Edwin, Carol, Elizabeth, Pat, and Anna.
The restaurant owner wondered if it might be my
aftershave.

I set only one rule: no talking about shoes. Elizabeth agreed if I would refrain from talking about sports - without question the easiest deal I ever made in my life. We enjoyed a fine supper and conversation. The ladies are very enjoyable company indeed. As you can see, the table can accommodate one more. We'll see.
