The Weekend

Saturday's supper was with Linda and Jack, Justin, Becky and Paige at their Bayview condo almost next door to our building. Elizabeth came with us too. Alas, I forgot to take a group photo but here's what I do have: First, a video view from their 17th floor balcony ...

... and a few photos, the one below with the group in it but unposed.

Looking at the sunset of course.

The sunset itself.

A nest of lower level condos.

Photo from inside looking out.

Today was meeting day and while waiting for the bus we got picked up by Jerry and Diann, friends in the congregation, going by in their car. On the way my cell phone rang. I said, "Hello" and some fellow asked me something indistinct in Spanish. I said, "Hello? Who am I talking to please?" He barked at me, "Hablas español? Si o no!" It sounded like it might be army headquarters so I promptly replied, "No hablo español" and the fellow hung up. Nice to know my Mexican cell phone line is working so well.

Arriving at the hall I was impressed to see all the lettering fully restored to the front wall although the JW.org logo appears to be a shade lighter blue.

I heard one of the Mexican brothers is a
professional sign painter.

Not only did I get two opportunities to comment at the Watchtower Study, in one of them I was able to advocate the book of Proverbs as clear indication that young people can become very wise at an early age. Not only is it a Bible book devoted to teaching wisdom, but the introduction to it shows the whole book is in fact addressed to young persons, a sign that Jehovah does not underestimate their ability to acquire wisdom if they have a heart that wants it.

In other news, at around 3:00 pm today there was a 4.2 earthquake about 40 km from here. We didn't feel a thing, possibly because we were preoccupied, shopping for a few groceries with Jerry and Diann after the meeting. I know about the earthquake because I have an earthquake app and, after Friday, I check it more frequently. It's quite an app. It gives an ongoing global report in chronological order. To quote Jerry Lee Lewis, "There's a whole lot of shaking going on."
